TORREMOLINOS
The emblem of Costa del Sol in the 50s to 70s when thanks to international tourism it becames a reference for freedom in Europe.
Today it is one of the most popular destinations for the LGTB community worldwide.
Located just 5 minutes distance from Málaga-Costa del Sol International Airport.
Torremolinos has direct train connection to Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Málaga and stops also at the airport.
Torremolinos municipality includes the following areas: Torremolinos, El Calvario, La Carihuela, Montemar, Bajondillo, Playamar, Los Alamos, La Colina and El Pinillo.
The historical Calle San Miguel is located in the heart of the municipality. It is the commercial area where tourists and celebrities from all over the world have passed through for decades.
The beautiful beaches and gastronomy create a special charm, making it a favourite destination for many people.
Areas such as La Carihuela, that was originally a humble fishing village and El Calvario, the municipality’s old town, tell us the Torremolinos history reflected over the years in the nature and identity of the place with traditional shops and typical Andalusian streets.
La Torre Pimentel: originally known as Torre de los Molinos, gave the city its name. It was built in 1300 and is located between Calle San Miguel and Cuesta del Tajo. Around this tower was formed a small neighbourhood of millers, from where the authentic Torremolinos was born.
There is also nature in Torremolinos. Following 2 examples:
El Parque de la Batería: a green area of 74,000 m2 with more than thousand trees and different recreational areas to spend time with family. This large park also has a classic carousel, navigable lake and a lookout tower with the most fascinating views.
La Cañada del Lobo: a few minutes from Torremolinos centre you can find this fantastic place with rich nature. In La Cañada del Lobo you can walk the paths surrounded by pine trees, cork oaks and holm oaks to enjoy the best views of the Costa del Sol.
Aqualand Torremolinos is a water park located just 10 minutes from Torremolinos centre and is the perfect place to spend a summer day with family or friends.
Next to Aqualand water park, you will find the amazing crocodile park. It is a kind of a zoo whose main characters are fascinating crocodiles from all over the world.
One of Torremolinos most attractive activities is horse riding, which has a long tradition in Andalusia. There are equestrian exhibitions and also the opportunity to take part in several horseback riding trips for the natural environment.
Golf lovers are lucky to have one of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol in the municipality. If you haven't tried it yet, during these holidays you will find a sport that you´ll get hooked on.
And at last, something else that defines Torremolinos is the fried fish. Rices and paellas are also popular and since we are in Andalusia, a good gazpacho cannot be missed!
